Editing Blog For Music Video

On Saturday we filmed for our music video. In total we filmed about two and a half hours. Out of the footage I would say that some of it is good for the video. Since we are not done filming, we only edited a little. We used many angles for our film. We used tracking shots, birds eye, two people shots, low angles, high angles, wides shots, and zoom ins. For the video we are doing jump cuts. We are also doing cross cutting. In our video, it will mostly be point of view or hand held and long shots. Editing the footage that we have now was not enough. Over the weekend our group is going to film some more. We did the cutaway of the skateboard and the shopping cart. Last blog I mention that we shot a scene where we were pushing Luisa to the left and to the right. It turned out good. We still do not know how we want the beginning to start. I think that we should put our zoom ins in the beginning. But since we are not done filming, maybe an inside scene will be first. In our video we want to show that time is passing from day to night. So we will be filming at night and putting those shots and the end of the video. We did the zoom ins so it could show that we are at different places or we zoomed in on things we liked. For example, we have a clip of a skateboard because it was aesthetically pleasing and we will put it when we are skating. We will also be inserting pictures at a specific part of the song. We did take some pictures, but we need to film inside so we can see how we want to place the pictures. We also did not go to our other locations. Over the weekend we will film at those places. Those will mostly be hand held as well. The video will give “vlogging” vibes because we want to to be simple and fun.

Filming Outside For Music Video

Over the weekend my group filmed. We filmed on Saturday for three hours. I told them to come at around 1:30 and we started recording. Luisa recorded us walking, Khiara also brought another friend so it would not be the three of us. While walking, we found a shopping kart. So we decided that Luisa should go inside it and we push her around. We filmed on the street but we always made sure that there was no cars. Then we filmed all of us running and jumping. It took us a while because at first we would put a timer and try to take a picture of us jumping. But, we put the phone down and recorded everything and it turned out better. After that we skated. Just like the shopping kart, I pushed Luisa on the skateboard. For the shopping kart she was being pushed to the left, so for the skateboard she was being pushed to the right. For the editing, we will put it back to back. We filmed for a long time and I kept falling. We also filmed a lot of zoom ins of random things like signs or places or objects on the floor. That was most of what we did. After we went to McDonalds. By the dumpster, we saw a wall that had graffiti so we recorded ourselves and took pictures. Then we entered McDonalds and and ate fries and ice cream. At this point we did not know what to do so we ended up with five minutes of us eating. We got some good shots so we are going to cut a lot of it out. After we wanted to get some more skate shots but Luisa's mom had to pick her up. Khiara and I brainstormed what we will finish and do next weekend. We could not film any inside scenes because my sister was visiting and she was in my room the whole time also, my house was very messy and it didn't look like how we wanted our music video to be and we could not film at the park because we did not have a ride and it wasn't walking distance. This weekend we will finish all of our filming and we might go rollerblading because it will fit our theme. If that doesn't work out, we will just go bowling.

Filming Blog for Music Video

Our group was supposed to film over the weekend, but we didn't. Everyone was busy throughout the day and if someone had time, there was a problem with transport. I think that we are going to film over Thanksgiving break. It would be better if we do it over the weekend because Thanksgiving would be over and I don't want to bother the other group members when they are with their family. Even though we did not film, when we start we know what to do. When we did our commercial we were a mess in the beginning. We did not know how to start and we were nervous so we kept laughing and had to keep retaking the first scene. For the music video, we know how we want the story to go and how we are going to portray it. Since the tittle of the song is "Girls Want To Have Fun" we are going to exactly what it says. The video will show a group of friends that are having fun. We also wanted to have a sleepover theme. I don't know if they can spend the night but we can just filming until the sun goes down, showing that time is passing. The video will start at my house then will show us going to different places. The places that we will go is the park, mall, and places to get food. Our video will also have some clips of us walking down the street or just being outside. The goal of the video is the exact definition of a group of teenagers hanging out on a Friday night. At some point, we will have pictures in the video so it is not the same all the time. I think it would be cool if we didn't have just one person behind the camera. Having different perspectives of the same thing would be better then just having it be basic. We will invite our friends and film. It will turn out better because we aren't really acting. For the commercial, the actors had to do a certain emotion and do it more than once. The music video will be us being ourselves. We necessarily don't need to do retakes of the same thing because everyone will be recording different things. At the end of the filming, we will pick the best footage.

Storyboard for Music Video

For the camera shot and angles we will use mostly wide shots. We want to get a lot of landscapes. We will also use two people shots and long shots. Tracking shots will also be used because we can have the camera following us. I think we will also be using close-ups because we might be recording ourselves to make the viewer feel like a friend.  Our costumes are just going to be t shirts and shorts. But the weather could be colder so maybe jeans and shirts. And if it rains then well just wear leggings and have umbrellas.

2. The lighting is gonna be dark. We are going for a very chill vibe. The more mellow and dark the better. Also we are using strobe lights maybe.

3. We aren't going to be acting per see perhaps just playing up our personality to the cameras but just being ourselves whilst hanging out.

4. There is a scene where we will be messing around with makeup. Just messing around. So it wont look good but just for fun.

5. Our props are not really props. But more so food and our skateboards.

6. Our scenery will be very aesthetic and we will be filming at mostly stores and kats house.

Planning For Music Video

For our schedule, everyone is coming to my house on a Saturday. We will film some scenes in my house. Then we will go to the "skate park", it is actually just the back of a mechanic shop. After we will go to McDonalds. We will be also go to an ice cream place and overall spend the most time at my house. For our location we decided to have more than one. We decided to film at around three or four locations. Our locations are most likely going to be my house, the skate park, and we might film at the ice cream shops and maybe some other extra places. We are going to most likely to have a sleepover.We are going to ask for permission to film at all the places. We will have a first aid kit on hand and our waterbottles. Our costumes are going to be normal going out clothes. Were going for a simple girls night theme, so we will keep our outfits very simple such as jeans, simple shirts, jackets, hoodies. For our props we will be using skateboards, bicycles, skates, cameras, face masks, pillows, and pajamas.. We will be using these for our footage. We will be going to the beach, park, my house and we will be using these props at these locations. Since our costumes is just normal teenager clothes we will be fine with simple clothes. For our makeup we will also keep it simple, some if they want they can choose to wear makeup or if they do not want they do not have to. At the end its a "girls just want to have fun" music video. All we will be doing is having fun

Intro to New Project- Music Video

We just finished our commercial. The storyboard helped us a lot because we did not have to film scenes that we were not going to use. The voiceover was the hardest part because we had to write a script that was long enough and that it had all the information we needed. Then we need to make sure that it sounded good and that the timing was right.

Right now we are going to start our new project. The song that we chose was Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper. We picked this song because we wanted to have a fun theme for our music video. The song came out in the 80s. It is a light-hearted song about a girl that just want to have fun hence the tittle, hence the title of the song. Our backup songs will be Material Girl by Madonna or Marvin’s Room by Drake.

1. For costumes we are decided to use normal clothes to film. We might show out different styles throughout the video. 
2. The lighting will be different in the video. We will be in different places in different times of the day.
3. The acting won’t seem like acting. We are going to hang out with a couple of friends and just record our selves 
4. For makeup it won’t be over the top. We will have a natural day to day look or just be bare face.  
5. For props we will use skateboards or food. Then we might go to places and use the things around us as “props”
6. For the setting we will many places. We will be at my house, a place to skate, Mcdonalds, or the beach

Final Blog For The Commercial

For the past two classes our group was editing and finishing the commercial. We ended up doing it on Luisa’s phone. Last class we edited the video. The transitions in our video came out nice. We cut off the last scene that we put on the storyboard. Even thought we did that, the commercial was still the length that it was supposed to be. It didn’t take as long as I expected. Today in class we were trying to write a script for the voice over. For some ideas we searched other infomercials and it gave us inspiration of what we are going to write. I’m going to write a draft and send it to our group to see what they think. Khiara is doing the voiceover for the commercial. We have the beginning done in our script but we don’t know where to take it from there. I think I’ll write mostly about the products that they sell and how it could make you in a better mood. Then, I might write about how Dunkin is better than their competitors. I’m going to send the script tomorrow and Khiara will change anything that she’ll think will make it better. Then, she will record her saying it and send it to Luisa. Finally, Luisa will put it in our commercial and we will be done. Overall I think that our project came out really good. I thought that it was going to be very challenging and time consuming. We did have a few bumps on the road but that help the group not to worry and have solutions for everything.

Editing the Commercial

Today in class we finish filming. We went to the track and run to show that they were in the gym. We did a tilt shot for that scene. After, we went to the bus loop to shoot the last scene. The people on the video still had to run because we are going to show the logo “America runs on Dunkin.” We had to film a couple of times because some people stopped running or walked the whole time. We were outside for 45 minutes our scenes came out nice. We are now back in class and we were going
to try to dump out footage to a computer but we still don’t know how to do it. Also, Pinnacle Studios isn’t working. Our teacher told us that we can’t edit today. They tried to open it but it still wasn’t working. All the computers won’t let any student edit. If it starts to work, we will edit. I think I found a way to dump the footage to the computer. I think if someone logs in into their Google Photos, they can try to save the videos on the computer. We might try that next class, or we will just use Imovie from Luisa’s phone. For the commercial we will have a voiceover. Khaira and I will make a script so she knows what to say for the video. We are also going to use sound effects and have a shot using the sound that it already has. In the beginning of the video it is going to be black and white then have color. In our video we also had a new actor. We didn’t use some other people in that were in the beginning of the video because we knew they didn’t want to work with us anymore. There still is five people in our commercial. We didn’t need any props but we still had a cup for product placement. Today was easier then last class. I think it went smoothly because we knew what we wanted to do. We also took less time to start. We were very productive with filming and time management. Next class we might film if the computers are working.

Filming Blog

On Thursday my group filmed for the first time. I brought a bag from Dunkin that had "food" in it and a cup. We stuffed the bag with paper to make it look like there was something inside in it. Luisa brought a lot of cups and a mini donut box. Our group got five other people to join our commercial. Our first scene took us the longest because we were not sure how we wanted it to be. Also, half of the group went to fill up their cups so it took longer to get started. While filming, some people were laughing and couldn't keep a straight face. We needed everyone to look tired and dull because its suppose to be the morning time and no one had their Dunkin yet. The second shot is them being happy because they had their coffee. At first everyone wasn't prepare to film and we had to keep doing it again but, by the second or third time we all were serious and it came out better. After that we went to the vending machines to film a small showing them walking. It didn't take us that much time because I think everyone realized that they better they did, the faster they can go back to class. The last thing we did was them going down the stairs. We did this to show that they were leaving class. After we were done filming we had to dump it in the computer. We decided to film on Luisa's phone and the camera that school provided us. When Khiara and I tried to dump the footage it wasn't showing up on the computer. We made sure that the SD card was properly inside the camera and that we were actually filming. At first we were just going to use Luisa's phone to record but we didn't know how to dump our footage, so we used the camera. But we just decided to stick with the first plan and use her phone. To make sure nothing happens with the footage Luisa saved it to her Google Photos then she sent it to me and I also save it on my Google Photos. We are going to use Imovie to edit our commercial. I think that we got a lot done that day even though we had a ruff start. The SD obstacle showed me that it is always better to have a back up plan even if you think nothing bad might happen. On Monday, we are going to film our last scene. We will be shooting at the bus loop and it is going to be the actors running because "America Runs on Dunkin." We didn't get to film it because we did not get the props for it. Our group use a lot of wide and long shots. Tracking shot was use in the beginning and will most likely be used for our last shot. I think all of us did better then what we expected.

Storyboard

Today in class we made our storyboards and decided what we would use. We got actors and discussed how filming would be so that they had an idea. While working on our storyboard we took notes of which types of movements and angles we would use. We decided to use most of the shots we had learned in the beginning. We are going to edit using jump cuts. Also, we are going to use two and three people shots. On our storyboard we have our angles, shots, and locations. We mostly have over the shoulder, eye level and high angles. We’re going to use eye level for when people are interacting with each other. We’ll use high angles when shooting any group encounters or when people are in a big group coming from somewhere. We’ll also be using over the shoulder for when people are talking to each other, in a conversation. Before our group did the storyboard we wanted to have people dress as an "emotion" to portray how the viewer would feel with out Dunkin (for example if they are mad they wear red.) We decided to take it out because we want to other things. If we want to do that, it would not show because at some parts of the video it is black and white. Our commercial is still going to show how you feel before and after having coffee or any other product. We are going to have the people in our video express how they feel with their body language and words.

Editing Lesson Blog

      Today in I learned how to edit videos. My teacher talked about how we need to dump all of our footage from the camera every time. Before I start editing, I need to take many clips so I can have a good shot and not have to spend another day filming. I will edit on a program called Pinnacle Studios. There I can add transitions and voice overs. First I need to put all my footage on the computer and then put it on a folder. When my group and I starts our commercial, we are going to save it with the name of the company so it would be easier and not get confused throughout the year when we have more footage. Our group will buy our own SD card and we will most likely use someone's phone. I think it is good if we use a tripod that the school is providing because it will keep it stable. Then, we will edit it with the program to make it better.
      In class I learned in detail how to edit. But, I need to wait for the video to load all the way or the program can crash. I learned how to detach audio from a clip. Also, I learned how to do a voice over over a clip. For some clips I can add a tittle and change how it looks. I need to render my videos also. This will help the group see if the video is choppy and fix the parts that could be better. The program also can change the colors of the video and if I want to redo something or change it completely, I can delete that part and put the raw footage in the AV Track.
      To end the videos, I need to save it and make sure that I export it. If I don't the if could get lost and my group would have to redo it.

Planning

     Our group decided it is best is we print out pictures of the logo Dunkin’ donuts because “America Runs on Dunkin.” Throughout the whole comercial the actors will be walking and running on “Dunkin.” We will also have people with cups of coffee and food from the company. They will be waking around as background people or close up for product placement. For the costumes we decided to have people dress in different solid colors. The reason why is because the concept of the commercial is how it feels like to not have your coffee that day. The video will display the variety moods someone can be without having their coffee. 
      In case anything goes wrong with the weather we have our backup plan, which is if it rains and we can’t go on the track we would go and film under the media center by the vending machines. We would film in the track people running on the Dunkin boxes but if it’s raining we will have a group of people walking with Dunkin cups. Our other backup plan is the senior patio, we would have a group of kids meeting up to eat their breakfast which would be the donuts and the coffee. If it rains too we would film by the auditorium stairs. Have the group of kids hang out on the stairs with their Dunkin coffee and donuts. We’d also film in the bus loop as if kids were on their way home, our other option would be to film at the point of entry. If things go according to plan we will continue with our track, senior patio, and bus loop films. 
      We decided to create a very detailed schedule because we want to have enough time for all locations. We are filming in four different locations. Which are subject to change if the weather permits. We decided to come and film at lunch too. So from 11:35-11:50 we will be on the senior patio to film our "morning" shot. After that we gave ourselves five minutes to get to the track to film our "day" shot from 11:55-12:15. Then from 12:20-12:40 we will be under the media center. Out last and final scene is us at the bus loop from 12:45-12:55 so we can film our shot of us running with a ton of other people. We thought that doing a shot based off a school day woukd be pretty cool so we picked spots around the school that can be used when filming and would represnt different points in a school day

Research Commercial Convenction

      For our commercial we decided to do Dunkin donuts because we all enjoy it. We started off by searching up Dunkin donuts commercials on YouTube. But we soon realized we did not know what conventions meant so we had to search it up. Most of the commercials were either cute or funny.  Since my group decided to do Dunkin donuts we strictly watched Dunkin commercials. We all brainstormed what we wanted to do and then started typing. We asked our friend to borrow her laptop so we could watch videos. We decided to stray a little far away from the idea of a conventional Dunkin commercial by featuring real people.

       The videos that our grouped watch showed that in the commercials it usually demonstrates people being in a better mood once they have coffee. It also shows people enjoying their drink or food that they have. The commercials have music that is very tranquil. It also have some special effects like pop art and exaggerated scenes like a man flying a plane. During the video, it is colorful most of the time. The commercials have people that talk about why they like Dunkin and that they would keep buying that product. At the end of all the commercials they promote the deals that they have which would attract people to buy it. These tactics persuade people to invest in their company.

      Our idea is that since Dunkins motto is "America runs on dunkin" we're going to have people running while eating donuts. Were not going to do a conventional dunking donuts commercial. most dunking commercials only feature the food or drink being advertised. whereas, ours will have real people doing things because we thought the idea was cool. were going to find as many people as we can to run. were gonna ask our friends to help and their friends. Were also gonna work at my house on Wednesday to brainstorm more. Were also going to buy donuts and iced coffee to put in our commercial. Well have people running while eating as an example of the motto "America runs on dunkin".

Introductory

       Hello my name is Katherine. I am 15 years old and I'm a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale High School. I like to paint and listen to music. For me, painting is a way to express myself and escape from reality. I also paint album covers of some of my favorite musical artist. Some of my favorite artist are Tyler, the Creator, Joji, Cuco, and Frank Ocean. I also am interested in photography. Even though I am not very good but I like to take pictures of my friends and landscape. I also like to bake. I would say I have hobbies but one thing that I am good at is making clothes. I made a couple of purses and I want to start my clothing line later. My friends are very supportive of me and I hope one day I will achieve my goals.
